Cornus kousa 'Pendula' is a unique and beautiful cultivar of the popular Cornus kousa. This small deciduous tree is highly valued for its graceful weeping habit, striking flowers, and exceptional hardiness. In late spring to early summer, 'Pendula' produces a profusion of large, creamy white bracts that surround its tiny, greenish-yellow flowers. The bracts gradually turn pinkish-red as they age, creating a stunning display that lasts for several weeks. It also features attractive, dark green foliage that turns to a beautiful shade of red and orange in fall. 'Pendula' has a weeping habit and grows to a height of 8-10 feet and a spread of 6-8 feet at maturity. Its branches cascade gracefully towards the ground, creating a unique and eye-catching silhouette. It is also highly adaptable to various soil types and is known for its excellent disease resistance. This tree is an excellent choice for planting as a specimen plant, in a mixed border, or as an accent in a rock garden.
