Vervain
Verbena rigida, commonly known as Vervain or Slender Vervain, is a perennial herbaceous plant celebrated for its vibrant purple flowers and drought tolerance. This species typically grows to about 1-2 feet tall and features slender, erect stems with lance-shaped leaves. The flowers of Verbena rigida are dense clusters of small, tubular blooms that appear from late spring to early fall, attracting butterflies and bees with their nectar-rich blooms. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it suitable for rock gardens, borders, or as a ground cover in dry, sunny areas. With its long-lasting blooms and tolerance to dry conditions, Verbena rigida adds color and pollinator-friendly charm to garden landscapes throughout the growing season.
