Regal Prince Oak (Quercus robur 'Regal Prince'), also known as Quercus x warei 'Long' Regal Prince, is a hybrid English and Swamp White Oak prized for its upright columnar form, mildew-resistant foliage, and strong tolerance to urban conditions. Bred for structure and reliability, this cultivar performs well in both formal designs and challenging city environments.
Distinctive Features
This fastigiate oak grows 40 to 50 feet tall with a narrow spread of 15 to 25 feet. Its foliage is dark green and glossy with rounded lobes typical of English Oak, turning yellow in fall. The tree maintains a consistent columnar shape with tight, upright branching. A hybrid between Quercus robur and Quercus bicolor, it inherits drought tolerance and better disease resistance than standard English Oak. Bark is gray and develops shallow ridges with age.
