Hydrangea quercifolia
Hydrangea quercifolia, commonly known as oakleaf hydrangea, is a deciduous shrub native to the southeastern United States. It is valued for its large, distinctive leaves that resemble those of oak trees, as well as its showy panicles of white flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer. The flowers gradually turn pinkish-purple as they age and can persist into fall, when the foliage also turns shades of red, orange, and yellow. Oakleaf hydrangea prefers partial shade to full sun and moist, well-drained soil. It is a popular choice for woodland gardens, mixed borders, and naturalized areas.
