Kinnikinnick
Kinnikinnick (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) is a low-growing evergreen shrub that is native to North America. This hardy plant features small, leathery, dark green leaves that turn reddish-bronze in the fall, adding a touch of color to the landscape. In spring, the shrub produces small, pink or white bell-shaped flowers that give way to red berries, which persist into the winter months, providing food for wildlife. Kinnikinnick is an excellent groundcover plant, spreading by underground stems to form a dense mat that effectively controls erosion. It is also tolerant of dry, rocky soils, making it ideal for use in rock gardens or naturalistic landscapes. With its attractive foliage and hardy nature, Kinnikinnick is a beautiful and functional addition to any garden or landscape.
