Hosoba Hoshifu Variegated Aucuba
Hosoba Hoshifu Variegated Aucuba is a popular evergreen shrub known for its striking foliage. The plant typically grows up to 5-6 feet tall and wide with a slow to moderate growth rate. The leaves are large, glossy, and leathery, measuring about 3-8 inches in length and 1-4 inches in width. They display a unique variegation pattern with irregular splashes of bright yellow or cream against a dark green background. When planted near a male counterpart, such as Mr. Goldstrike Aucuba, the Hosoba Hoshifu produces small, inconspicuous purple flowers followed by bright red berries. Relatively low-maintenance it can adapt to a wide range of growing conditions. It prefers partial shade to full shade and moist, well-drained soil. The plant is also tolerant of air pollution, making it an excellent choice for urban environments.
