Emerald Spreader Yew
The Emerald Spreader Yew, scientifically known as Taxus x media 'Emerald Spreader', is a popular evergreen shrub appreciated for its spreading and low-growing habit. This yew cultivar is a hybrid resulting from the cross between the English yew (Taxus baccata) and the Japanese yew (Taxus cuspidata). 'Emerald Spreader' is recognized for its dark green, needle-like foliage that forms a dense, carpet-like covering over the ground. The needles are arranged spirally around the stems, contributing to its full appearance. This yew cultivar requires minimal maintenance and is easily pruned to maintain its desired form. It thrives in well-drained soil and is versatile in landscaping, often used as a ground cover or for edging. Its ability to adapt to various light conditions, from partial to full shade, makes it a valuable addition to gardens and landscapes.
