Willow Oak (Quercus phellos)

Willow Oak (Quercus phellos), also known as Peach Oak or Pin Oak in some regions, is a fast-growing deciduous oak prized for its slender, willow-like foliage and refined appearance. Native to the southeastern and central United States, it provides dependable shade and strong vertical structure in urban, residential, and park settings.

Distinctive Features

This oak typically matures to 40 to 75 feet tall with a straight trunk and narrowly rounded crown. Its smooth-edged, lance-shaped leaves are unique among oaks, resembling those of willow trees. In fall, the foliage turns rich yellow to russet tones. Small acorns are rounded with shallow cups and provide food for wildlife. The bark is light gray and becomes finely ridged with age, adding winter texture and interest.
