Streetspire Oak
The Streetspire Oak (Quercus robur x alba 'JFS-KW1QX') is a hybrid oak tree resulting from the crossbreeding of Quercus robur and Quercus alba. It is a deciduous tree known for its tall, narrow, and columnar growth habit, making it an excellent choice for urban landscapes and narrow spaces. The tree typically reaches a height of 40 to 60 feet, with a spread of only 10 to 15 feet, giving it a slender and upright appearance. The leaves of the Streetspire Oak are lobed and have a glossy green color, turning yellowish-brown in the fall before dropping. The bark is gray and develops shallow furrows as the tree matures. This oak hybrid is adaptable to a variety of soil types and thrives in full sun to partial shade. It has good tolerance to urban conditions and is relatively drought-tolerant once established. The Streetspire Oak is valued for its elegant form, compact size, and resistance to common oak diseases. It is commonly used as a street tree, in narrow planting strips, or as a vertical accent in landscapes.
