Foamflower (Tiarella)
Tiarella, commonly called Foamflower, is a shade loving perennial group valued for delicate spring flower spikes, attractive foliage, and dependable groundcover habit in woodland gardens. Our Foamflower collection includes clumping and gently spreading types that fill in under trees, along shaded paths, and at the front of mixed borders, creating a soft, layered look that pairs naturally with hostas, ferns, hellebores, and spring bulbs. In spring, airy white to blush flower wands rise above the leaves like foam, bringing a light, bright focal point early in the season, while the foliage often shows handsome veining and can develop deeper tones as nights cool. Tiarella grows best in partial shade with moist, well drained, humus rich soil and appreciates consistent moisture, especially during establishment. Use Foamflower to knit together shade plantings, brighten woodland edges, and create low maintenance texture that looks polished from spring through fall.
