Japanese Mahonia
Japanese Mahonia (Mahonia japonica) is an evergreen shrub known for its striking foliage and fragrant blooms. Native to Japan, it typically grows to a height of 3 to 6 feet and has an upright, spreading habit. The leaves are pinnately compound, resembling holly leaves, with spiny leaflets that are glossy and dark green in color, providing an attractive backdrop throughout the year. In late autumn to early winter, it produces dense clusters of fragrant, bright yellow flowers that provide a burst of color and a sweet fragrance, attracting pollinators. The flowers are followed by small, dark purple to black berries, adding further ornamental value.
