Pin Oak
Quercus palustris, commonly known as Pin Oak, is a medium to large deciduous tree known for its distinctive, deeply lobed leaves and symmetrical, pyramidal shape. Reaching a height of 50 to 70 feet with a spread of 25 to 40 feet, it thrives in full sun and moist, acidic, well-drained soil. This oak is native to the eastern and central United States and is well-suited for urban and residential landscapes due to its tolerance to wet soils and adaptability to various conditions. The dark green leaves turn a stunning red to bronze color in the fall, adding seasonal interest to any setting. Pin Oak also features small acorns that mature in the fall, providing a valuable food source for wildlife. With its attractive form, strong branches, and beautiful fall foliage, Pin Oak is an excellent choice for shade, street, or specimen trees in large landscapes.
