Asessippi Lilac (Syringa x hyacinthiflora 'Asessippi')

Asessippi Lilac (Syringa x hyacinthiflora 'Asessippi') is an early-blooming, cold-hardy hybrid lilac known for its fragrant lavender blooms and vigorous growth habit. Also known as Asessippi Early Lilac, it bridges the gap between early and common lilacs, offering reliable spring color even in northern climates.

Distinctive Features

This upright, multi-stemmed shrub reaches 8 to 10 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide, with heart-shaped blue-green leaves and arching branches that fill with conical trusses of soft lavender flowers in mid to late spring. The blooms are strongly fragrant and attract butterflies and pollinators. As a hyacinthiflora hybrid, it typically flowers 7 to 10 days earlier than common lilacs.
