Two-Wing Silverbell
The Two-Wing Silverbell (Halesia diptera var. magniflora) is a deciduous tree native to the southeastern United States. It is a variety of the Halesia diptera species and is known for its ornamental value. The tree typically reaches a height of 20 to 30 feet and has an upright, pyramidal shape. The Two-Wing Silverbell gets its name from the distinctive two-winged fruit it produces in spring. These fruits are light brown and hang in clusters, adding visual interest to the tree. In addition to the fruit, the Two-Wing Silverbell also produces beautiful, bell-shaped flowers. The flowers are white, tinged with pink, and appear in late spring, creating a stunning display. The leaves of this tree are ovate and dark green, turning yellow in the fall. The Two-Wing Silverbell prefers moist, well-drained soils and thrives in partial shade to full sun conditions. It is often planted as an ornamental tree in gardens, parks, and landscapes, adding beauty and charm to any setting.
