Fastigiata Boxwood
Buxus sempervirens 'Fastigiata', also known as the English or Columnar boxwood, is a popular cultivar of common boxwood. It is valued for its upright, columnar growth habit, and can reach a height of up to 15 feet, but typically maintains a narrow form of 4-5 feet in width. The small, glossy, dark green leaves create a dense canopy and formal appearance, making it ideal for use as a narrow hedge, vertical accent, or specimen plant in formal garden designs. 'Fastigiata' prefers well-draining soil and partial to full sun exposure. It is also resistant to common boxwood diseases, making it a low-maintenance choice for formal gardens, landscapes, or as a container plant.
