Heritage River Birch
The Heritage River Birch (Betula nigra 'Heritage') is a fast-growing deciduous tree with a beautiful exfoliating bark that ranges from creamy white to cinnamon brown. This birch cultivar is prized for its exceptional tolerance to heat, humidity, and drought, making it an ideal choice for planting in challenging urban environments. The attractive green foliage turns yellow in the fall, adding a lovely pop of color to the landscape. The Heritage River Birch can reach heights of up to 40-60 feet tall and 25-40 feet wide at maturity, forming a pyramidal shape with a broad spreading crown. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. This low-maintenance tree is resistant to bronze birch borer and is relatively pest and disease-free. The Heritage River Birch is a stunning addition to any landscape, providing year-round interest with its unique bark and foliage. This tree would make a great statement piece next to a creek or pond as it tolerages water very well.
