Waterfall Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum dissectum 'Waterfall' is a cultivar of the Japanese maple tree (Acer palmatum). It's a small deciduous tree that grows up to 8-10 feet tall and wide, with a weeping habit. 'Waterfall' has cascading branches and delicate, finely cut foliage that emerges shades of green in the spring. They turn a brilliant orange-red in the fall. This cultivar is a popular choice for ornamental landscaping due to its graceful form and striking foliage. It's often used as a focal point in a garden or as a feature in a Japanese-style landscape design. It really shines near water features, where its cascading form can mimic the flow of water. 'Waterfall' is relatively easy to care for, preferring moist, well-drained soil and partial shade to full sun exposure. It is also fairly cold-hardy and can withstand temperatures down to -20F, making it a good choice for colder climates.
