Helen Curtis Evergreen Azalea
Rhododendron 'Helen Curtis' is a popular evergreen azalea cultivar known for its showy, rose-pink blooms that emerge in mid-spring. The flowers are funnel-shaped and have a striking golden-orange blotch at the center. The foliage is dark green and glossy, and the plant grows in a compact, rounded form, reaching a height and width of 3 to 4 feet at maturity. Helen Curtis azalea is easy to grow and prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soil in partial shade. It is an excellent choice for mass plantings, mixed borders, and foundation plantings, and attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies to the garden.
