Hard Rush Grass
Hard Rush Grass (Juncus inflexus) is a versatile and hardy perennial grass commonly found in wetlands, along streams, and in other moist environments. It's native to Europe but has become widespread in North America and other regions. This grass features sturdy, cylindrical stems that are typically dark green, reaching heights of about 2 to 3 feet. The stems are rigid and provide a strong architectural element to gardens and landscapes. Hard Rush Grass is valued for its adaptability to various soil types, as well as its tolerance to occasional flooding or standing water. It is often used for erosion control along water bodies or in rain gardens. In landscaping, it can be an excellent choice for naturalizing areas with moist soil, providing a lush, grassy look while also supporting local wildlife.
