Soft Rush Grass
Soft Rush Grass (Juncus effusus) is a common and versatile perennial rush native to wetlands and other moist habitats across Europe, Asia, and North America. This grass is characterized by smooth, upright stems that are cylindrical and typically bright green, reaching a height of about 2 to 3 feet. The stems are flexible and not as rigid as some other rush varieties, hence the name "soft rush." Soft Rush Grass is known for its adaptability to various soil types and moisture levels, making it a valuable choice for stabilizing soil in wet areas, preventing erosion, and enhancing the ecological balance in marshy or boggy landscapes. In landscaping, it's often utilized to create a natural and graceful appearance in water gardens, rain gardens, or near ponds, providing both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits.
