Shieldleaf Rodgersia
Astilboides tabularis, commonly known as Shieldleaf Rodgersia or Table-leaved Astilboides, is a unique perennial prized for its large, round, shield-like leaves that can reach up to 3 feet in diameter. In early to mid-summer, it produces tall spikes of small, creamy-white flowers that rise above the foliage, adding a soft, airy texture to the garden. Thriving in partial to full shade and consistently moist, rich, well-drained soil, this plant is ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, and alongside water features. The bold, architectural foliage of Shieldleaf Rodgersia makes it an excellent choice for adding dramatic texture and visual interest to any shaded or damp garden setting.
