Silk Tree
Albizia julibrissin is a tree species native to Iran and Central Asia, but it is widely cultivated as an ornamental tree in many parts of the world. It is commonly known as the Persian silk tree or mimosa tree. The tree features a beautiful, spreading umbrella-shaped crown. The leaves are bipinnate, with numerous small leaflets that give the tree a delicate, feathery appearance. The tree produces showy pink to lavender-colored flowers in mid-summer, which are followed by long, flattened seed pods. It is tolerant of a range of soils and can be grown in full sun or partial shade. The tree is valued for its attractive foliage and flowers, as well as its ability to provide shade in hot climates.
