This yew cultivar is a hybrid resulting from the cross between the English yew (Taxus baccata) and the Japanese yew (Taxus cuspidata). 'Emerald Spreader' is recognized for its dark green, needle-like foliage that forms a dense, carpet-like covering over the ground. The needles are arranged spirally around the stems, contributing to its full appearance. This yew cultivar requires minimal maintenance and is easily pruned to maintain its desired form.
